Derby and Derbyshire coronavirus cases and lockdown restrictions in full - Tuesday September 29

Those refusing to self-isolate when told to could face a fine of up to £10,000 in England

Coronavirus headlines on September 29

Restrictions and lockdown measures are changing by the day throughout the UK, as the government desperately attempts to stop the spread of coronavirus.

As infection numbers grow, Covid-19 cases around Glossop and the High Peak have been linked to an outbreak in Tameside General Hospital.

The rate continues to surge above the national average in High Peak, and it remains the outlier in the county.

But five boroughs are now above the national level (27 per 100,000 people).

A series of new restrictions have been introduced by Prime Minister Boris Johnson, but there is also local guidance around what we should and shouldn't do to stop the spread of the virus.

The restrictions tightened again on Monday (September 28) with new rules around wedding guests, among others.

Also from this week, those refusing to self-isolate when told to could face a fine of up to £10,000 in England.

It is now a punishable offence not to comply with an official instruction to self-isolate, with fines starting at £1,000 and rising to £10,000 for repeat offenders or serious breaches.
