People in Burton will be heading to London to take part in a protest over issues in Kashmir.

Members of the Kashmir Forum and the mosques in Burton have organised free coaches to take people to the planned major protest on Sunday, October 27. There are 200 places available.

The protest aims to raise awareness and highlight the issues surrounding Kashmir, which is a disputed territory.

Kashmir is an 86,000-square mile region in the northern part of the Indian subcontinent. The region has been the subject of tension and animosity been India and Pakistan since both countries gained independence.

The protest will begin outside Downing Street and make its way through the streets of London, ending up outside the Indian High Commision.

Khadim Thathall, chairman of the Kashmir Forum in Burton, said: "I encourage as many people as possible to attend and participate in this national protest.

"The people in Kashmir have had their freedom denied and their rights deprived of them.

"The protest will be a peaceful and non-violent protest and their is no political agenda behind it. It's just a case of raising the voice for the Kashmiri's which unfortunately no-one can hear."
