The promotion's ninth pay-per-view card of the year, which will be held at the T-Mobile Arena, was in major doubt following Sunday night's horrific shooting.

Fifty-eight festival goers lost their lives when gunman Stephen Paddock opened fire on them with an automatic rifle from the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay Arena.

527 people were wounded from the cowardly attack, which was the 273rd gun attack in the United States in the last 275 days.

Despite the shooting rocking 'Sin City, the UFC brass have opted not to pull the plug on 216, which is headlined by an interim lightweight title fight between Tony Ferguson and Kevin Lee.

"Our focus right now is on supporting the community and those affected by Sunday evening’s events," a UFC statement read.

"UFC 216 on Saturday, October 7 at T-Mobile Arena will proceed as scheduled until further notice."

A significantly heavier police presence is expected at the event.

Late last night, UFC president Dana White will donate $1m to the families of the victims of the attack.
