Arsenal push for Jerome Boateng loan ahead of £50m Dayot Upamecano transfer raid

EXCLUSIVE: Arsenal transfer plans still include RB Leipzig star Dayot Upamecano despite a summer snub from the Bundesliga side

Mikel Arteta: I have nothing to say about transfers

Arsenal will push to sign Jerome Boateng on loan from Bayern Munich before launching a £50m summer raid for RB Leipzig centre-back Dayot Upamecano.

Mikel Arteta is keen to bolster his defensive options with Calum Chambers injured for the rest of the campaign.

Boateng has struggled for first-team football at the Allianz Arena this season and is viewed as a solid temporary fix by the Gunners.

The 31-year-old has been capped 76 times for Germany and already has Premier League experience following a 12-month stay at Manchester City earlier in his career.

The Bayern ace is only being considered as a short-term option, though.

Arteta is ready to go all out for Upamecano once the season is over.

The 21-year-old is a rising star in the Bundesliga having moved to Leipzig from Red Bull Salzburg in January 2017.

Arsenal made enquiries about his availability in August, but left it too late to get a deal done.
