Captain Jordan McGhee has welcomed Dundee's bid to lure Charlie Adam to Dens Park.
The former Rangers and Liverpool has been locked in talks with James McPake this week as he edges closer to a deal in the Scottish Championship.
The 34-year-old has been on the hunt for a club since leaving Reading and looks set to sign for his boyhood heroes.
East Kilbride native McGhee admits he would be delighted to welcome the Scotland cap to the club if the transfer is completed.
The Gardenhall star, who was named as Dee skipper this summer, reckons a move showcases the strength of the second tier for the upcoming campaign.
“The Championship has really kicked on in the past few years," he told Lanarkshire Live Sport.

“I think from the seasons where Rangers, Hearts and Hibs were in the league there has been a lift. It’s only go stronger since then.
“It’s well documented he is a Dundee fan, but for a player like Charlie Adam, a player of his quality, to come to Dundee would give the club a real boost.
