Hearts target ex-Rangers striker Steven MacLean

HEARTS boss Csaba Laszlo wants to make former Rangers striker Steven MacLean his sixth summer signing.

HEARTS boss Csaba Laszlo wants to make former Rangers striker Steven MacLean his sixth summer signing.

Laszlo has already landed Austrian hitman David Witteveen but wants more options in attack after his flop forwards scored only seven goals last season.

And Plymouth Argyle striker MacLean, who made four Rangers appearances before being released in 2004, could be the man he turns to.

Slovakian star Adam Nemec is also a target for the Jambos boss. But Belgian outfit Racing Genk want to recoup some of the £750,000 they paid Erzgebirge Aue for the 23-year-old last year.

Laszlo went with just one man up top last term but has revealed he could be ready to rip up that formation and be more attack-minded.

The manager, who has left the No.9 shirt free after releasing the provisional squad numbers, said: "I hope our team is not finished yet and I will look for possibilities with other players.

"Maybe we have to change the tactics. We have different possibilities now and will use the remaining four weeks to do this."
