The Midtjylland defender could be set to make a sensational return to Celtic Park under the new boss.

Former Celtic defender Erik Sviatchenko is in line for a dramatic return to Parkhead.

It’s understood the 29-year-old former Invincible is on a list of potential transfer targets for new boss Ange Postecoglou.

Sviatchenko is currently playing with Midtjylland, who ironically Celtic could be drawn against on Wednesday morning in the Champions League second qualifying round.

But it’s believed the centre-back has unfinished business in Glasgow.

He returned to his native Denmark in 2018 – first on loan before sealing a permanent transfer in a £1million deal.

As well as playing his part in the Invincibles campaign in Brendan Rodgers' debut season at Celtic, Sviatchenko won two titles, two League Cups and the Scottish Cup.

The defender has since gone on to feature in Mitjylland’s first ever Champions League campaign last season although the club lost their domestic title by just one point last term.
