TalkSPORT host Adrian Durham has poked fun at Kieran Tierney and Arsenal over the defender's decision to miss Scotland's upcoming Euro 2020 qualifiers.

The £25million former Celtic defender has played five games on the spin for the Gunners but will not be part of Steve Clarke's squad for the double-header against Cyprus and Kazakhstan later this month.

Arsenal and are looking to manage his workload and Tierney is hopeful he will be involved in his country's vital UEFA Nations League playoff tussles in March.

Tierney had double hernia surgery and has been working his way back to full fitness in recent weeks, making an impact in the Premier League and Europe.

But Durham, known for his outspoken opinions, delivered a wisecrack at the 22-year-old's expense and claims Arsenal fans are to blame for Tierney being unavailable for Scotland

He said: "TalkSPORT understands it's a shoulder injury for Tierney caused due to the sheer expectation placed on his young shoulders by Arsenal's unreasonable fans.

"They thought he would solve all their problems, take them to the title, be better than Ashley Cole. They thought he would be the best left-back in the Premier League before he even kicked a ball.

"We wish Tierney all the best in his recovery from his shoulder injury."

Meanwhile, Tierney insists Arsenal's players are doing all they can to alleviate the pressure on Unai Emery with snipers circling on the Gunnerss beleaguered boss who is without a win in four games.

The left-back said: "Everybody is trying to stay positive, as positive as they can. We know there is a lot going on that people are talking about.

"But we just need to forget about all that and concentrate on us, concentrate on bouncing back and concentrate on giving the fans something to cheer about.

"In football it doesn’t always go your way, but we have got another chance on Saturday."
