Dave Cormack backs SPFL inquiry as Aberdeen chairman reveals late Neil Doncaster call on day of crucial vote

The Pittodrie chief also raised the possibility of completing the top flight season.

SPFL LATEST - All the news from Scottish football

Aberdeen chairman Dave Cormack has added to the calls for an independent inquiry into the SPFL.

Rangers have called for an outside probe into the voting process on ending the lower league seasons early.

Hearts chairman Ann Budge has backed that, though disagrees that chief executive Neil Doncaster should be suspended.

While Cormack was clear that he didn't feel Doncaster had pushed Aberdeen into their yes vote, having received assurances about a vote on ending the top flight, he added his voice to the calls for outside scrutiny.

Asked on BBC Sportsound if he'd back an inquiry the Pittodrie supremo replied: "Yes I would.

"In fact I could almost repeat what Ann has said.

"What we have to think about is: what do we look like from a fan's perspective?

"Obviously this isn't the best position to be in, but it's happened and we can do better.
