Celtic slapped with UEFA fine as Jablonec pitch invasion and fireworks cost Parkhead club

Incidents in the second leg against the Czech side have brought the governing body's hammer down.

Celtic have been hit with a €7000 UEFA fine after supporters let off fireworks and invaded the pitch in the Europa League qualifying victory over Jablonec.

The European governing body have hit the Parkhead club in the pocket after incidents during the 3-0 victory on August 12.

The Hoops were charged with invasion of the field of play and lighting of a firework under article 16.

And UEFA ’s control, ethics and disciplinary body have imposed a €5000 fine for the invasion topped up with a €2000 fine for setting off fireworks.

Celtic progressed 7-2 on aggregate against the Czech side to set up a Europa League play-off crunch with Dutch side AZ Alkmaar.

Ange Postecoglou ’s side take a 2-0 lead to the Netherlands on Thursday looking to finish the tie and secure a group stage spot worth a minimum £3000.

Meanwhile UEFA also fined St Johnstone €3000 after a fan set off a pyrotechnic in the 4-2 home defeat to Galatasaray.

Saints have closed a small section of the East Stand for Thursday’s Europa Conference League play-off clash with LASK.
