A huge midweek of Betfred Cup action in Scotland gets underway this evening when Partick Thistle and Rangers go head-to-head in a live TV clash in Maryhill.

The Glasgow rivals are just two of eight clubs left fighting it out for the first silverware of the season - and a record prize pot to boot.

A cool quarter of a million pounds are up for grabs for this year's winners - a rise from the £200,000 Celtic lifted after beating Aberdeen at Hampden last season.

And the runners-up will also get a hefty cheque worth £115,000, incredibly a thousand pounds more than Celtic received for WINNING the Scottish Cup in May.

In total prize and television money for the 2017 Betfred Cup increased by 15 per cent this season with more than £1.6million will be paid in prize money, and almost £500,000 in TV payments. That equates to an overall prize and television pot of £2,073,000 – an increase on £1.8 million last season.

Three of this week's four quarter finals are to be beamed out live - tonight's Partick Thistle v Rangers clash followed by tomorrow's meeting between Dundee and Celtic and Thursday's Motherwell v Aberdeen tie.
