COMPUTER games and consoles normally rank high on most young boys’ birthday wish lists – but the only request Jamie Meechan had was a model camper van.

The 10-year-old, from Coatbridge, has long had a passion for Lego and motorhomes.

So when Jamie discovered the toy manufacturer had released a limited edition Volkswagen Camper, he just HAD to have it.

The Lego-mad youngster said: “I was on the Lego website and I noticed it in the exclusive section.

“I really like camper vans and hope to have a real one as soon as I’m old enough.”

The model camper van was not the easiest gift to source, but Jamie’s mum Andrea McKenna eventually tracked one down – in Scandinavia.

She admitted: “I tried everywhere to get it and eventually had to phone Lego headquarters. I was told that it was only available in Denmark .

“When I told them I was looking for the camper as a gift for my son’s 10th birthday, they told me that this wasn’t suitable for a child.
