Leeds are hoping to fend off rival interest in talented young Carlisle United winger Liam McCarron with a £250,000 offer this week.

Marcelo Bielsa's side are keen to conclude some early business, and add the 18-year-old to their ranks before pre-season.

Premier League side Wolves have also been linked with the player, though Leeds remain hopeful they hold the edge in any potential deal with the promise of more game time.

Derby County and Sheffield United are also monitoring McCarron's progress, and could be set to rival Leeds with a bid.

Last week Carlisle’s director of football David Holdsworth said: “We have received interest from a number of parties regarding both Jarrad Branthwaite and Liam McCarron.”

It has not been disclosed whether any clubs have made a formal bid at this stage for either of the two youngsters.
