The Duchess of Sussex swapped her high-end wardrobe for a high-street hero when she joined the Royal Family at the Royal Albert Hall last weekend, it has been revealed.

Pregnant Meghan, 37, wore a £49.50 dress from Marks & Spencer for the Festival of Remembrance on Saturday night, it emerged today.

The mother-to-be arrived wrapped up in a heavy black coat and limited photos from inside the theatre meant it was difficult to identify the dress beneath on the night.

However M&S today confirmed the royal had worn its flattering Double Crepe Bodycon Dress for the occasion.

Added stretch in the double crepe material is designed to hug curves - and might have given Meghan the flexibility she needed for her growing baby bump.

The duchess, who is expecting her first child with Prince Harry next spring, paired the dress with classic black suede point toe pumps and a simple black clutch with gold chain detailing.

The mid-length black coat provided the perfect outer layer as she made her way inside on the chilly autumn night.

Meghan joined husband Prince Harry, 34, the Queen, 92, the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge for the event.

The annual Festival of Remembrance in London, which commemorates the war dead, included performances from Sir Tom Jones, Sir Bryn Terfel and Sheridan Smith and was presented by the BBC's Huw Edwards.

It is not the first time Meghan has worn Marks & Spencer for a public engagement.

The duchess sparked a shopping frenzy when she wore a £45 black jumper with bell sleeves from the high street stalwart to visit the studio of Reprezent 107.3 FM in south London in January.

And in a clear demonstration of the style influence she already wields, the affordable knit had sold out on the store's website within hours of her stepping in front of the cameras on the arm of her Prince.

Commenting on the latest outing, a Marks & Spencer spokesperson said: 'We thought Meghan looked beautiful in our M&S Collection dress. We are absolutely delighted she is a fan of M&S and the British high street.'
