Coventry City boss Mark Robins weighs up options for Reise Allassani

The 23-year-old joined the Sky Blues in the summer

Sky Blue fans react as Coventry City lose to Scunthorpe

Coventry City boss Mark Robins is weighing up his options for young forward Reise Allassani.

The 23-year-old was thrown on as a late substitute at Scunthorpe United on Saturday but back in the Under-23s this week as the Sky Blues fielded a talented looking development side at Charlton Athletic, where a David Bremang brace saw them come from behind to snatch a late win.

Jason Farndon’s lads included latest signing Declan Drysdale who lined up with six players who were drafted in to strengthen the development group in the summer, while four players were graduates from the Sky Blues Academy.

Three have recently stepped up to get a taste of the first team – left-back Sam McCallum, midfielder Zain Westbrooke and forward Allassani.

McCallum, who only recently turned 18, is proving that age is no barrier to getting senior football at City by currently being ahead of the experienced Junior Brown in the pecking order, going on as a substitute in the last three games.

Westbrooke, too, has been promoted to the senior picture in recent weeks, handed his first league start for the club against Southend and been on the bench since.

The former Brentford player was deployed wide on the right of midfield in place of the injured Luke Thomas for the festive victory over the Shrimpers on a day when many thought Allassani would be handed a chance to impress.

Reise Allassani is still developing, says Sky Blues boss Mark Robins

Some fans have wanted Allassani to be given more of a run in the team but Mark Robins feels the 23-year-old is still developing, revealing that he could be sent out on loan again if City are successful in getting a new player in this January.
