A £7m fee has been agreed for the goalscoring defender

Middlesbrough have agreed a deal to sign Bristol City defender Aden Flint.

BristolLive understands that Boro have stolen a march on their Championship rivals and have agreed a fee to sign the 28-year-old.

Flint is now undergoing a medical at Boro's training ground Rockliffe ahead of the move being confirmed.

Bristol City have been reluctant to lose Flint this summer but the club have always stated that every player has a price.

They turned down an offer worth £6million from Brighton & Hove Albion in January while Birmingham City came close to landing Flint last summer.

In March 2018, Flint signed a new long-term deal, tying him down to the club till 2021.

He now looks set for a move to the Riverside Stadium in the second summer departure at Ashton Gate.

The fee is £7m in total, but that includes a £5m fee up front and £2m of add-ons, for example, should Boro be promoted and so on.
