A 38-year-old man has been arrested in Bristol today on suspicion of a grooming offence.

He was apprehended by police in the city centre on December 12, after being ambushed by a paedophile hunting group.

The group carried out an operation on Park Street this afternoon after they claim the man was supposed to meet an underage girl at a Bristol train station.

They allege he had arranged to meet the fictional girl - who was one of the group acting as a decoy - after speaking to her online.

Officers are now investigating the matter after taking the suspect to a nearby police station for questioning.

A spokesman for Avon and Somerset police said: "We’ve arrested a 38-year-old man on suspicion of a grooming offence in Bristol and an investigation is under way."
