FOURTH QUARTER

Eagles run the ball in an effort to kill clock.

Vikings take over and get into the red zone. Keenum throws to Thielen but Darby gets his hands on it. But then he loses it and Thielen almost catches it. But then Corey Graham ultimately ends up with the ball. What a pick.

Eagles take over with 12:29 remaining. Eagles take the clock down to under nine minutes before having to punt.

Rodney McLeod drops a pick on a ball overthrown by Keenum. The Vikings get into 4th-and-2 and go for it but the pass is incomplete due to pressure.

Eagles 38, Vikings 7: Ajayi runs for a loss. Then Foles throws a jump ball to Jeffery, who makes the catch. The rout is on. Antony Barr gets flagged for unnecessary roughness on the PAT. Sore losers.

THIRD QUARTER

Eagles run the ball twice before going play-action for a first down, Foles to Ertz. Nice call. Eagles continue to pound the rock to kill some clock. That is, until Foles unleashes a ball down the field while on the run to Agholor. Great accuracy, great contested catch. Eagles into field goal range now. Clement picks up a nice gain and Ertz draws an illegal hands to the face penalty to put the Eagles at the 5-yard line. Ajayi runs to set up 2nd-and-goal at the 2-yard line. End of third quarter.

Vikings drive into the red zone after some lapses in coverage. 3rd-and-10 from the 18-yard line ... and Keenum completes a pass to McKinnon for a first down. Barnett was trailing in coverage. Vikings gets to 3rd-and-8 from the 8-yard line ... Keenum’s pass is way off target. Vikings go for it on fourth down. The ball bounces off Thielen’s hands, but he catches it again as he falls to the ground. Or not. The ball actually boucnd off the ground. Incomplete. Turnover on downs.

Eagles 31, Vikings 7: Eagles receive the ball to start the second half. Philly starts at their own 25-yard line after a touchback. Eagles mix in a number of short passes and runs to get to midfield. Then Foles hands off to Clement, who tosses it back to Foles (FLEA FLICKER ALERT), who hits Torrey Smith. Awesome play-call by Doug Pederson, great throw by Foles, nice catch by Smith. The throw back from Clement was ugly, but the Eagles made it work. This is incredible. Eagles fans are actually doing the SKOL chant to mock the Vikings at this point.

SECOND QUARTER

Eagles 24, Vikings 7: Eagles get the ball back with not much time remaining. Instead of just kneeling, they run a screen to Ajayi to pick up a nice gain. Then Foles hits Ertz for a big gain. Another screen to Ajayi sets up the Eagles for a 38-yard field goal attempt. Elliott nails it! Eagles take a three-possession lead going into halftime. Oh, and they get the ball to start the third quarter.

Vikings try to drive into field goal range but come up short and have to punt. Great pressure by the Eagles on third down in order to force Keenum into a bad throw.

Eagles 21, Vikings 7: Foles throws a swing pass to Corey Clement, who takes it for a first down. Then he hits Torrey Smith on a screen. The play could’ve went for an even bigger game if Smith didn’t get tackled by his shoelace. Foles extends a play on third down ... and airs it out deep ... TO A WIDE OPEN JEFFERY WHO CATCHES IT FOR A TOUCHDOWN! Wow! Carson Wentz totally taught Foles how to do that. Great play by No. 9. Is now a fun time to mention Jeffery turned down the Vikings in free agency, by the way?

Vikings take over at their own 15-yard line. Diggs finds a soft spot in the Eagles’ defense to move the ball to Minny’s 39. Vikings get to 3rd-and-6 from the 43. Keenum easily completes the pass to Diggs with the Eagles playing real soft in coverage. Minnesota drives to the red zone. On 3rd-and-6, Barnett comes flying in off the edge to strip sack Keenum. Long recovers. Fun fact: the Eagles drafted Barnett with the pick they got from the Vikings in the Sam Bradford trade!

Blount runs for two yards. Agholor drops a pass to bring up 3rd-and-8. Foles pumps to free up Ertz and then hits him for a first down. Nice work. Foles tries to go deep but gets hit as he throws, incomplete. Then he takes a sack after holding to the ball on third down. Eagles have to punt.

Eagles force the Vikings into 3rd-and-2. Malcolm Jenkins comes rushing free on a blitz and forces Keenum into a bad throw. Incomplete. Great call by Jim Schwartz. Another three-and-out for Minnesota. Punt.

Eagles 14, Vikings 7: Eagles start the second quarter at 2nd-and-1 from the Vikings’ 17-yard line. Ajayi runs for no gain, but Foles completes a short pass to Ertz for a first down. Another RPO. Blount takes a handoff and runs over Andrew Sendejo for a touchdown. Blount just trucked the poor guy. Nasty. Great blocking from the offensive line on that run as well.

FIRST QUARTER

Jay Ajayi runs for a first down after making a man miss in the backfield. The Eagles give it right back to him for a 7-yard run up the middle. Foles throws short over the middle to Alshon Jeffery for a first. On 3rd-and-10, Foles completes a pass to Zach Ertz over the middle for another first. Nice job by Ertz to fight through contact, too. Foles throws another accurate pass to Ertz over the middle. Eagles RPO the Vikings’ defense to death to move into the red zone as the first quarter expires.

Long pressures Keenum into an incompletion to bring up 3rd-and-6. Then Keenum dumps off to Diggs, who only picks up a yard before the Eagles swarm to him. Three-and-out, Minnesota has to punt.

Eagles 7, Vikings 7. Eagles defense gets the Vikings into 3rd-and-10 after Ronald Darby breaks up a pass and Fletcher Cox stuffs a run. But then Keenum hits Stefon Diggs for a first down. Eagles defense then gets the Vikings into 3rd-and-8. Chris Long hits Keenum’s arm as the quarterback throws and the ball is intercepted by Patrick Robinson, who returns it the house for six after reversing field. Huge play. Darby got LIT UP on the return but he did his job to get in the way of McKinnon. Jake Elliott nails the extra point to tie the game!

Nick Foles completes his first pass of the game to Nelson Agholor for a first down. Then he targets Torrey Smith deep but it’s incomplete. Smith drops the pass, though it may have been a tad underthrown, which allowed Trae Waynes to recover into tight coverage. Still gotta make the catch, Torrey. On 3rd-and-4, Foles targets a WIDE OPEN Trey Burton near the sideline but Burton can’t get both feet in. Only one foot. Ball was placed to a spot where the catch was made much more difficult than it had to be, too. Punt.

Vikings 7, Eagles 0: Latavius Murray runs up the middle for six yards on the first play of the game. Then another 2-yard run, Vikings get to 3rd-and-2. Jerick McKinnon picks up the first on a run up the middle. Minnesota moves to the Eagles’ 25-yard line. Then Case Keenum floats a pass over the middle to Kyle Rudolph for a touchdown. Wide open in the end zone. Total confusion by the Eagles defense in the pre-snap phase allowed Najee Goode to get beat on the play. Wayyyy too easy.

PREGAME

For the first time since Jan. 18, 2009, the Philadelphia Eagles are back in the NFC Championship Game. It’s been a long nine years.

The last time the Eagles made it to this point, they did not advance to the Super Bowl. The big difference this time around is that the Eagles be hosting the NFCCG instead of playing on the road.

Philadelphia’s home crowd did a great job of assisting the Eagles in a win over the Atlanta Falcons in the Divisional Round of the 2018 NFL Playoff schedule last week. The teams needs another big effort from the fans in order to beat a tougher opponent this time around: the Minnesota Vikings.

Minnesota wasn’t supposed to make it here. Not just because Case Keenum is their quarterback, but because they needed a miraculous play just to beat the New Orleans Saints at home last week.

The Eagles weren’t supposed to make it here either. Their season seemed to be over once Carson Wentz suffered an ACL injury and Nick Foles had to take over. But here they are.

Two resilient teams are set to go head-to-head today. It should be a great battle. Doug Pederson versus Mike Zimmer is a huge head coaching matchup. Philadelphia’s defense and Minnesota’s defense won’t directly be facing each other, of course, but those two standout units will likely be critical in determining the outcome of this game.

The stakes are high. Winner goes to Super Bowl LII. Minnesota is trying to become the first team to ever play for a Lombardi trophy in their home stadium. The Eagles are trying to prevent that from happening.
