'Best player I've ever seen' Aston Villa and Boro fans laud Wolves' Man City hero

Wolves latest news | After receiving some criticism in his early months at Molineux, Adama Traore is a player reborn at the start of this season

When Adama Traore arrived at Wolverhampton Wanderers from Middlesbrough in the summer of 2018, some eyebrows were raised.

At £18m, the Spaniard became the club's record signing at the time, making up a large portion of Nuno Espirito Santo's transfer budget.

But in his first season at the club, with the exception of a couple of highlights, Traore struggled in old gold.

Traditionally a winger, Nuno moved the flying 23-year-old to wing back - a vital cog in his 3-5-2 formation.

After some early teething issues, he has adapted into a competent defender, seen clearly in his exemplary performance against Man City and Raheem Sterling.

The England winger was left frustrated as Traore kept the City man under wraps for more than an hour. Then with just over 20 minutes, the former Boro and Aston Villa man was moved into a central striking role alongside Raul Jimenez.

That move worked to perfection with Traore netting a brace in the memorable win over the champions.
