Tottenham sign winger Ryan Sessegnon for £25m and midfielder Giovani lo Celso on loan

Tottenham have signed England Under-21 winger Ryan Sessegnon for £25m from Fulham and Argentina midfielder Giovani lo Celso on loan from Real Betis.
Sessegnon has signed a five-year deal with an option for one more and the fee for the 19-year-old could rise to £30m with performance-related add-ons.
Midfielder Josh Onomah, 22, moves to Craven Cottage as part of the deal.
Lo Celso has initially joined the club on loan but Spurs have an option to buy the 23-year-old.
Tottenham also hoped to bring in Argentina forward Paulo Dybala but a proposed deal fell through after Juventus decided not to sell the 25-year-old.
Lo Celso, who has 19 caps for Argentina, joined Betis on a permanent deal in April after spending the season on loan from Paris St-Germain. He made 45 appearances for the La Liga club in all competitions last season, scoring 16 goals.
Meanwhile, Spurs could be set to lose midfielder Christian Eriksen as the 27-year-old Denmark international is understood to want a fresh challenge after six years at White Hart Lane.
Eriksen was linked with a move to Manchester United, but they have ended their pursuit of him.
Tottenham have ended their interest in a loan move for Barcelona midfielder Philippe Coutinho.
The 27-year-old Brazil international, who joined Barca from Liverpool in a deal worth £142m in January 2018, worked with Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino during a loan spell with Espanyol in 2012.
He has scored 21 goals in 76 appearances for Barcelona but has been linked with moves to Arsenal, Liverpool and PSG.
United States centre-back Cameron Carter-Vickers has joined Championship side Stoke City on a season-long loan.
The 21-year-old made his senior international debut in 2017 and came up through the youth ranks at Spurs.

BBC football reporter Ian Dennis: In terms of incomings, the Tottenham scouting staff have delivered everything Mauricio Pochettino wanted. Pochettino has got targets they wanted and I don't think he can repeat his comments about changing his title to 'coach'.
BBC Sport correspondent David Ornstein: Tottenham started today with disappointment because Paulo Dybala was a deal they have been working on for a long, long time - a number of influential people were working extremely hard to get this deal done.
Despite getting very close it fell apart. The reason we were given was Juventus decided not to sell and keep Dybala. There is a good chance there is a deeper story to this.

They were desperate for a refresh which they now have. All along I had a feeling it would be Manchester City and Liverpool plus the rest - now I think it's Manchester City, Liverpool and Tottenham will worry the other two more than any other club.

Lo Celso has so many qualities that Eriksen doesn't have.
Hes faster, has better ball control, runs at defenders and beats his man, more importantly he manages to beat the first man at bloody corners. He creates well and has got a deadly shot from distance, like Eriksen , so for me its an upgrade. oh, and hes younger.
Seems like a win to me.
I watched the live text update all day today and there was absolutely nothing about Le Celso until the announcement, and the same with Sessagnon. In fact all I saw were constant stories about the 8 million drop kick has been Luis and the failure Lukaku.
If that isn't bias I don't know what is.

Could be worse for Spurs. They could have been Arsenal with their signings. 73 million for Pepe a player no one had heard of and a player that has had one average season in the last 3 years (13 goals 9 of which were penalties). A left back that is not even first choice for Scotland, one loan player in midfield who didnt want to move there permanently and Luiz lol
