Steven Caulker exits Dundee as Calvin Miller, Andy Boyle & Ryan Inniss arrive

Former England defender Steven Caulker has left Dundee after triggering a release clause in his contract.

The Dens Park club say the 26-year-old will now "search for a new challenge".

The ex-Tottenham and Cardiff City player joined in February after his QPR exit and made 17 appearances, scoring once.

Prior to the announcement, Dundee recruited three defenders on loan, bringing in Andy Boyle, Ryan Inniss and Calvin Miller on deadline day.

Republic of Ireland centre-back Boyle, 27, joins on loan from Preston until January, while Inniss, 23, arrives on a season-long deal from Crystal Palace.

As does 20-year-old Celtic left-back Miller, who is eager to "show how good I am" at Dens Park as he eyes game time.

Boyle joined Preston in 2017 after helping Dundalk win three consecutive Irish top-flight ties, and was loaned to Doncaster Rovers during the latter half of last season.

Inniss, who spent time on loan at Colchester United last term, made his Palace debut in Tuesday's League Cup win over Swansea City.

The trio's arrival takes Dundee boss Neil McCann's haul of summer recruits to 13.

Caulker, capped once, twice commanded fees of £8m and Dundee made headlines in April when they rejected an a near £2m bid for the player from Rosenborg in Norway.

The Dens Park club are without a point from their three Scottish Premiership fixtures to date and were eliminated from the League Cup after a 3-0 home defeat by second-tier Ayr United.

Meanwhile, central defender Daniel Jefferies, 19, is leaving Dundee for a six-month loan at Partick Thistle.
