Galaxy S10 Lite and Note 10 Lite dropped to quarterly updates

Samsung has dropped the Galaxy S10 Lite and Galaxy Note 10 Lite to quarterly security updates. The phones have been receiving monthly updates since their launch in early 2020. Going forward, they will only get new software releases once every three months.

These two phones arrived as the company’s first stripped-down flagships, now launched under the FE lineup. One of the best perks of these devices is the same level of software support as the regular flagships despite a sizable price gap. The Korean firm treats them as flagships too.

Since launch, the two Lite-branded devices have been receiving updates every month. They also picked up three major Android OS updates — debuting with Android 10 and updated to Android 11, Android 12, and Android 13. The regular Galaxy S10 and Galaxy Note 10 missed out on Android 13 because they debuted with Android 9. Samsung now offers four major Android OS updates and five years of security updates to flagship models, but these devices aren’t covered under the new policy.

Nonetheless, the old policy promised four years of security updates for all Galaxy devices, with flagship models getting those updates monthly for the first three years. True to that, Samsung seeded updates to the Galaxy S10 Lite and Galaxy Note 10 Lite regularly until last month. But now that the phones have completed three years in the market, the company is dropping them to quarterly updates. The devices will get security updates for at least one more year before Samsung ends official support for them.

The Galaxy S10 Lite and Galaxy Note 10 Lite will not get Android 14

It may be clear by now that the Galaxy S10 Lite and Galaxy Note 10 Lite will not get Android 14. As said earlier, they are only eligible for three major Android OS updates and they have already picked them up.

We are still hopeful about them getting One UI 5.1, but Samsung hasn’t shown any signs yet. We will let you know if and when they get it. Even if One UI 5.1 doesn’t arrive, the phones will get new security updates in the future.
