Henrik Larsson Part Of Consortium Looking To Buy English Club

According to the Mirror, Dennis Bergkamp is leading a star studded consortium to buy an English football club. The Dutch legend has joined forced with Philip Cocu, Dirk Kuyt, Ronald Koeman and Henrik Larsson!

The lockdown provides a potential gap in the market with the global financial shuffle that will and has emerged from the coronavirus. Football clubs have been hit hard without the TV and crowd revenue streams as the sport has been suspended.

Dutch super-agent, Rob Jansen, an executive at Wasserman Media Group, is the businessman behind the project. His employers are the seconds largest sports agency in the world, with an estimated worth of £3.2bn. Jansen told the Mirror, “We are in the waiting room as well call it. In this crisis, the asking price of some clubs will be lowered.”

The group failed with a bid to buy a club last year. Jansen explained “Recently we were very close to a deal. I am not going to say now which club that was, but at the very last moment we were beaten by a foreign investor. That was very disappointing.”

All involved in the consortium are willing to put in their own cash to make the dream a reality, and each have experience in the English game. Bergkamp is obviously an Arsenal legend, Kuyt spent six years at Anfield, Koeman was boss of Southampton and Everton, Cocu was is Derby County manager and Larsson won the premier league with Manchester United.

It’ll be interesting to see who acquires these new owners, who want a hands on role in the club they takeover. Meanwhile, Dennis Bergkamp wants to work developing young talent and advancing them into the first team.
