Ipswich supporters react as Celtic reportedly considering Paul Lambert approach

Celtic are reportedly considering Ipswich Town manager Paul Lambert if they do end up sacking Neil Lennon amid a dismal run of form – and Ipswich supporters have reacted on Twitter, urging the Hoops to take him.

Lennon has been afforded a second vote of confidence by Celtic in less than a week, after the Hoops failed to beat St. Johnstone on Sunday afternoon at Parkhead. They have now slipped to 13 points behind Rangers in the title race.

Yes, they have two games in hand and will face Rangers three times again this season. But Europa League exit after just four games and losing to Ross County in the Betfred Cup has also caused Lennon’s job to become insecure.

Football site 90Min have claimed that while Celtic continue to back the under-fire Lennon – amid two large protests – the Hoops board are considering a move to bring 51-year-old Lambert to Parkhead as a potential replacement.

Lambert has managed Aston Villa, Stoke City and Norwich City in the Premier League, and has taken Ipswich to third in League One. He won four Scottish Premiership titles as a player at Celtic, and four Cups.

He was also part of the side that reached the 2003 UEFA Cup final. Despite taking Ipswich to third after 16 games in League One, many Ipswich fans reacted to reports of a potential Celtic move – by urging Celtic to lure him away.
