Top 20 English clubs ranked by highest ever average attendance across a league season

For over 150 years English football clubs have been playing in front of crowds of paying spectators, who pass their love of the game and their team down through generations.

The grounds, or as they are more often known these days, stadiums, have changed a great deal over time, but the passion of the supporters remains a constant.

Last season, West Ham United played their first campaign in the 60,000-capacity Olympic Stadium, ensuring the Hammers broke their highest average attendance for consecutive seasons, beating their previous attendance of 35,910 at Upton Park.

Liverpool, meanwhile, also surpassed their previous attendance record thanks to the increased 54,000 capacity at Anfield, comfortably exceeding the club’s previous highest average attendance.
