‘I didn’t enjoy the Premier League’ – Neil Warnock admits to talkSPORT he could quit Cardiff if they win promotion

Neil Warnock has told talkSPORT he hated managing in the Premier League and has suggested he could quit Cardiff City if they are promoted from the Championship this season.

Warnock, who has an incredible track record in leading clubs through the divisions, has completely transformed the Bluebirds in his 12 months at the helm.

They have gone from relegation candidates to one of the promotion favourites and currently sit second in the Championship table after 18 games.

But, should Cardiff go on to reach the promised land, Warnock may not make the step up himself.

The 67-year-old, who has bossed Crystal Palace, Sheffield United and QPR in the top-flight, told the Sports Bar after Tuesday night’s win over Barnsley: “I didn’t enjoy the Premier League, if I’m honest. It is not my cup of tea.

“This is my cup of tea - lads that go through brick walls for you at places like this on a Tuesday night.

“It is amazing what you can do with team spirit. That is my forte.

“I just enjoy tuning clubs around. “

Asked if he would carry on as Cardiff boss if they win promotion, he responded: “I wouldn’t say that at the moment.

“Let’s get there first. It is going to be so difficult with the wage bill we have in comparison with some of these others. We will cross that bridge when we come to it.

“As I said, I didn’t enjoy it. I don’t like chairmen talking to players and going out with them. That’s not my cup of tea.”
