In Tottenham's win over West Brom, it was the first time we had seen Harry Kane, Gareth Bale and Heung-Min Son all in the same team in the Premier League and things could be about to get exciting at Spurs.

They didn't combine for the winning goal and Spurs didn't actually get a shot on target until the hour mark, but the trio are threatening to burst into life.

Kane's winning goal, after 88 minutes, came from a clipped cross by right-back Matt Doherty - a vital contribution as Jose Mourinho's men head into a tough run of games after the international break.

What's even more important is that his forward line is sputtering into life.

It will be comparable to Liverpool's famous triumvirate of Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino, and Sadio Mane if it gets to full speed but it's not there yet, and that was evident as the Baggies, coached superbly by Slaven Bilic, held them off for long periods.

But on occasion two of the three combined together to excite fans around the world.

From the off Kane continued to drop deep, spraying balls out wide, primarily from the centre or just to the left, out to full-back Matt Doherty, before galloping back to the centre-forward position.

Son drifted inside from a wide role on the left wing, taking up the areas vacated by his English teammate and tormenting the West Brom defence with the ball at his feet.

Bale had a quieter start out to the right, but he, like Son, slipped into central areas when Spurs began to pick the ball up in the middle third of the pitch, but his threat was evident with Conor Gallagher taking him down not long after the South Korean spurned a fine chance created by Kane and Tanguy Ndombele.

That chance was the first major opportunity any of the trio had been able construct together, but an issue with the attackers was evident after 18 minutes when West Brom almost opened the scoring.

Bale had moved over to the left and was close to Son as West Brom broke down the same flank. There looked to be a touch of confusion and quickly Baggies full-back Darnell Furlong had been able to whip a cross onto the head of Karlan Grant, but it went well wide.

In crossing situations from the left for Spurs, Bale certainly looks like a dangerous backpost threat if Kane isn't able to reach Sergio Reguilon's efforts at the first attempt.

As the match unfolded, with Spurs against a back-three - a formation which has troubled them before - it grew harder for the three to get onto the ball with West Brom in charge, despite not dominating possession.

At times, with positional rotation, Tottenham lacked a presence up top.

The fluidity can come at a cost, especially if Ndombele wasn't able to move into a threatening position in their absence.

When it came to set-pieces, Bale and Son swapped up on corners and the pair do certainly seem to be nearing a similar wavelength with some excellent flicks and passes showing growing intuition.

And the Welshman towards the half-time whistle also combined elegantly with Kane before the West Brom defence closed them out.

Some excellent work on the left from Kane almost had Bale slide a shot home after the restart, but it was always a tricky chance. Nonetheless, it showed the two can dovetail with their movement.

Kane then put Son through but his shot was easily lapped up by goalkeeper Sam Johnstone before Bale was eventually substituted and then spotted icing his ankle.

It's something Mourinho will be praying is only minor but given the international break is next week there is time to overcome it.

It's always hard adding a third superstar into the mix, especially when we know just how good Kane and Son are as a duo.

Bale, though, does already appear to have a blossoming relationship with the Englishman and the Korean.

It never hit full speed against West Brom but this, it must be said, was partially down to a fine display from the Baggies, who were remarkably unlucky to taste defeat at the Hawthorns.

The international break offers a chance of a mental freshen up and if they come back with with renewed vigour the trio could set the Premier League alight.
