Patrick van Aanholt makes Premier League history with last-minute winner for Crystal Palace against Manchester United

Patrick van Aanholt made Premier League history when he scored a stoppage-time winner against Manchester United on Saturday.

Crystal Palace stunned Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side 2-1 at Old Trafford to record their first victory over the Red Devils in the Premier League era.

Against the run of play, Jordan Ayew opened the scoring for the Eagles and it looked as if that would be enough for the three points when Marcus Rashford smashed his penalty onto the post.

Daniel James equalised with his second goal since joining in the summer and it looked as if Man United would earn a point, but after breaking forward, Van Aanholt fired past David de Gea.

With that strike, the Dutchman became the first visiting player to score a winning goal in the 90th minute or later against the Red Devils.

It was first win for Palace over Man United in 21 attempts and the previous 11 last-minute winners at the Theatre of Dreams have all been scored by United themselves.

The last player to register an effort as late against Man United, was Thierry Henry, who headed in to give Arsenal a 2-1 win at the Emirates Stadium in January 2007.
