Buffalo Bills offensive tackle Cyrus Kouandjio was taken to the Erie County Medical Center for observation after an unusual encounter with police, according to

"According to a police source, Kouandjio was found, not fully clothed, in a field after climbing over an electric fence," Carucci wrote. "When an Erie County Sheriff's deputy went to detain him, the source said, the 6-foot-7, 322-pound Kouandjio yelled, 'Shoot me!'"

The offensive lineman was not arrested during the encounter, per Carucci.

The Erie County Sheriff's Office disputed that report, however:

The Bills released a statement following the incident.

"We are aware of the matter involving Cyrus and are carefully monitoring his condition and gathering more information," the statement noted. "We don't have all of the details, so we won't have any further comment at this time."

Carucci's source said police suspect that Kouandjio saw the lights and emergency vehicles responding to an accident on Route 400 and pulled off the road before going into the field on foot.

Kouandjio, 23, was a second-round pick by the Bills in the 2014 NFL draft and has started seven games for the team over the past two seasons. He has been recovering from hip surgery in January after falling in his home and was not at the team's minicamp practice on Thursday.
