The former Never Mind The Buzzcocks host Mark Lamarr has been charged with common assault and false imprisonment.

Lamarr, born Mark Jones, was a regular on TV screens in the 1990s when he presented The Word and The Big Breakfast.

He was also a team captain on the comedy panel show Shooting Stars.

The 51-year-old was charged on 1 September and will appear before magistrates in Uxbridge on 2 October, the Metropolitan Police said.

According to reports, the alleged incident involved a woman.
