Nigel Farage’s programme initially proved a ratings hit for GB News but it seems some viewers are now switching off just weeks after his tenure on began.
The highest number of viewers tuning into Farage’s self-titled show last week was around 43,900, a for the Monday evening edition.
But compared to the week of August 9 (the last week available), it shows a huge decline in figures with the highest on a Wednesday night, with 137,300 watching according to official BARB ratings.
He was knocked off the top spot by The Political Correction show on Sunday night, which saw the highest audience of the week, at 63,700 tuning in.
The former UKIP MEP and Brexit Party was brought on to the channel back in July with the hope of boosting dwindling viewing figures.
Whilst this move initially looked to be working, the latest batch of weekly viewing figures show significantly less are tuning in than near the beginning of his tenure.
It comes amid speculation over whether chairman of GB News Andrew Neil will return for his nightly show.
Neil announced he would be taking a break from the broadcasting network just two weeks into the show’s launch back in June.
He told viewers at the time he would be back at the helm ‘before the summer is out.’
However, it’s not clear when this will be with no update having yet been provided by Neil himself, but co-star Alistair Stewart has said he was confident of his co-star’s return.
He told The Times: ‘I firmly believe, and I have no reason to doubt, that Andrew will be back with us in September.’
A source previously told Metro.co.uk, Neil is still on course to return to GB News in September but is not expected to be hosting his show nightly as promoted when the station initially launched back in June.
A growing list of popular brand names have been pulling their adverts from the news channel since it launched earlier this summer, with Sainsburys recently having ended theirs.
Farage sparked backlash last month after comparing the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) to a ‘taxi service for migrants.’
Farage airs on GB News Mondays-Thursdays at 7pm.
