These distressing pictures show the remains of seagulls which were ‘deliberately’ killed by a motorist who drove over them – leaving one alive with its wing hanging off.

Eye-witnesses claim a young driver mowed down the flock of four birds in Llandudno, Wales, before speeding off.

Ffion Haf Davies, 35, took pictures of the aftermath and posted them online in a bid to track down the driver of the smokey grey vehicle.

She said: ‘The injuries to the birds was traumatic – their eyes were bulging and the wing of the alive seagull was hanging off.’

He said the driver, who appeared to be a man in his 20s, "mowed them down" killing four seagulls and leaving one seriously hurt as it wing become detached. The 61-year-old saw the incident from the Irish Bar in Llandudno, Wales at around 8.30pm last Saturday.

TV presenter and wildlife expert Chris Packham has also taken to Twitter following the incident, retweeting a post published by Alan Davies, who wrote: ‘One thousand people have also engaged with this post on Facebook. We need action @NWPolice please.’

Officers from North Wales Police were called to the scene at 8.30pm last Saturday and closed the road while the birds were removed.

The force said in a statement: ‘We are aware of the horrific incident in Llewelyn Road, Llandudno in which a number of seagulls were killed after reportedly being hit by a vehicle.

‘The RSPCA, which has investigative and prosecution powers, has been informed and is looking into the matter.’
