Ah, I forgot about those…

July 8, 2010

I’ve done a few jeans posts on here as I’m a bit partial to some nice denim and they’re what I spend most of my time wearing, so it makes sense really. I’ve had tons of pairs of jeans but I’ve got it down to about 8 pairs that I wear often (some are smart, some are faded, some are only for rainy days etc). One pair I’m embarrassed to say I’d forgotten about for about three years are my Levi’s 505’s.

Why? Well they’re no ordinary pair of 505’s – they’re the Levi’s x Stüssy 25th anniversary 505XX’s that were released in 2005 (in the UK only as far as I can remember). They’re made from lightweight (12oz) but beautiful selvedge denim that’s still lovely and dark even though they’ve been through the wash at least twice (to try and stop them bleeding as it was that bad).

As they’re for a 25th anniversary there are lots of silver accents on them – the back pocket arcuate’s are silver (they’re also the more shallow version) as are the side seams by the pockets, plus the rivets and the tags on the zip also get the same silver treatment, they’re a unique and great pair of jeans.

Here are some detail shots:

The reason they haven’t seen daylight in so long is down to them being pretty baggy and over the years I’ve progressively worn slimmer and slimmer jeans. They’re big because a) the cut is relaxed and b) because they didn’t have my size and I bought a bigger waist than I actually am.

They’re too nice to keep in the wardrobe though and I’ve decided to embrace the baggy and get them worn. It feel a bit strange but they’re perfect for more casual days. They won’t be left in the wardrobe gathering dust again, that’s for sure.

Thanks for the reminder. I have a pair of these also. The seat in these are massive, but they taper beautifully to the ankle.

Yeah the seat is massive, but once you get over the saggy arse aspect they’re bloody lovely. Can’t believe I haven’t worn them for so long.

34×32? They must be massive on you.

As I have a 28″ waist, I find it very difficult to find the right jeans. Uniqlo are great for this and I love their Japanese denim range.

I’m an inch bigger at a 29″ waist, so as you can imagine these are a bit big.

I used to buy all of my XX’s at a 32 as the shrinkage meant they fitter perfectly after a wash, with these 505’s there was no chance. Still it’s nothing a belt won’t fix.

Have you been to Albam? I get most of my jeans from there now, they’re great quality and they do a 28″ waist too, plus they’ll get the legs taken up to your desired length for an extra £6.

That’s good to know. The beauty of Uniqlo is that they do length alterations for free for anything over a certain amount. If below that amount, they do it for some £3 and within an hour! Now, for me, THAT is service that keeps me coming back.

34X32 . I think they would fit me perfectly.

Are they a throw back to your skate days?

They’re post my skating days but are defo a nod in that direction. It’s only in the past three years or so that I’ve finally stopped looking like a grown up skate kid.

Mind you, I might re-embrace it and bring some back into the wardrobe.

I’ve recently returned to Levi’s after a long hiatus. I’ve pretty much only wear the 501’s but have chosen to take them to a good tailor and have them tapered to my liking. These look like a quality pair.

even if you did change you mind you could always have the altered?
