T-Pain Reveals We’ve All Been Getting The Lyrics To “All I Do Is Win” Wrong

Did you hear “stay there” or ”say yeah”?

Today on Twitter, T-Pain revealed that the lyrics to his hook on DJ Khaled’s classic “All I Do Is Win” aren’t what you think. The L.V.M. and DJ Nasty-produced song first appeared on Khaled’s 2010 album Victory, and has remained a club staple ever since.

Most people (including Genius) believed that T-Pain’s part went like this:

And every time I step up in the building
Everybody hands go up
And they stay there, and they stay there
And they stay there, up, down, up, down, up, down

However, he revealed what the real lyrics are:

What remains unclear is why he would follow up “and they stay there” with “up, down, up, down, up, down.”

“All I Do Is Win,” which also features Snoop Dogg, Rick Ross, and Ludacris, remains a pop culture mainstay seven years after it was originally released. It peaked at No. 24 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2007 and has since soundtracked everything from sports team stadium entrances to President Obama’s 2013 White House Correspondents Dinner speech.

That wasn’t the only lyrical clarification he offered, either. According to the Florida singer, the lyrics to “Buy U A Drank” have also been widely misinterpreted:

He’s referencing the background vocals on the chorus, between the lines “I'ma buy you a drank” and “I'ma take you home with me.” Clearly we all haven’t been listening to his music closely enough.

Genius has updated the lyrics on the “All I Do Is Win” song page, which you can read now.
