Psychling rides into Wimborne!

Cycling cafe culture is on the up in the U.K., and with now having three cycle cafes in a 15 mile radius of the Bournemouth, are we are being spoiled for choice?

The newest opening is Psychling in Wimborne. Located on East Street, home of and directly opposite brew pub The Butchers Dog, it compliments its neighbours well.

Straight from the off you can tell the speciality in Psychling. You can see from the vintage wool jerseys and steel drop bar bikes what they like their cycling with a retro twist. As far as the look of the shop goes I like the simple black and white font matched with the offset design of the signage, It’s in keeping with the style of bikes.

Inside you have a selection of finest steel steeds to accompany you whilst you sit and enjoy your food and drink. Power points and free WiFi are on hand too for those of you who are location independent for work, or those of you who can’t keep off Strava!

Alongside the cafe, Psychling are offering sales of vintage cycles and components, and cycle repairs. Repairs extend to all bikes, not just retro road, with workshop facilities stowed away behind the cafe.

Having completely overdone it on the ride out there, not eaten for two hours and pushed an 18mph average over nearly 40 miles, I needed some food. The menu in Psychling is simple but better to do a few things well than try too hard and fall at the first hurdle. I went for a decaf cap (seeing as it was just the afternoon), of which the Faema coffee machine did an excellent job, and an avocado and sun dried tomato toasted sandwich. Just right for a refuel mid ride, all served up in retro camping styled enamel.
