4 Chelsea having the best of the early exchanges. A Leboeuf free kick cannons off a defender, Le Saux and Poyet are making good use of both wide channels as the away team seem unfazed by the drums, chanting and banners welcoming them to hell.
7 A Hagi free kick from 30 yards out is deflected and the ball is fed back in to Okan at the right of the area. But he is too eager with the shot and scuffs a good chance into the ground.
10 Hagi's second free kick is a better effort, a left-foot special hit with power, swerve and bad intention. It curls away from De Goey who misses the ball but is relieved to see it hit his left upright. Goal kick. Chelsea have not scored in the first half of any of their Champions League matches, and an English side have never lost to Galatasaray.
13 Galatasaray are enjoying the lion's share of possession. An attacking Turkish line-up is concentrating its efforts on De Goey in the Chelsea goal.
18 Le Saux takes the ball into the Galatasaray area, but a solid shoulder-to-shoulder challenge upends the Chelsea man, and the ball runs into touch. Goal kick. Zola is also enjoying a modicum of space on the right, but has not seen enough of the ball yet.

24 A Chelsea cross is flicked on by, of all people, Zola standing on the penalty spot. Poyet hits a half-volley with venom which is tipped over by Mehmet. The resulting corner, Chelsea's first, is a weak effort easily dealt with by the Galatasaray defence.

28 Flo is dropping back to collect the ball from midfield, leaving the frontman, in this particular case Zola, outnumbered and isolated.

Flo, with a lot to do, collects the ball half-way into the Turkish half, and the Norwegian holds off the attentions of a defender to curl the ball along the ground between Mehmet and the far post. A silent Ali Sami Yen stadium celebrates on the inside.
33 Hagi tries to reply immediately with a free kick to the right of the Chelsea box. His effort is well struck, but sails over the wall and the crossbar.
36 Sukur, top scorer in Turkish football three years running, flicks a high, looping header which is tipped over by De Goey.

51 Hakan finds some space on the right of the Chelsea area, and fires in a low cross gathered well by De Goey.
53 GOAL Galatasaray 0 - 3 Chelsea Galatasary set their offside trap just inside their own half, but Zola springs it and makes off with the cheese - the Galatasaray players appeal in vain as they see Flo offside, but not interfering with play. The Chelsea playmaker rounds the keeper with aplomb and slots the ball home to give the home supporters something to moan about. Loudly.
59 The Galatasaray tacticians have resorted to the aimless ball forward, which has won them a corner off Leboeuf's bald pate. The corner is cleared and when it eventually makes its way back into the Chelsea penalty area De Goey gathers comfortably.

62 Umit recalls a rabbit and some headlights as a flicked header from a free kick on the right drifts between him and an open goal. Jaws drop all over Turkey.
63 A little confusion as a loose ball drops to Sukur in Chelsea's box, who is challenged and falls to the ground. The referee blows, but to book Sukur for a dive, rather than to award a penalty. Galatasaray's disappointing night appears to be complete.

85 Galatasaray's persistence deserves a goal, as does the home fans' drumming and chanting, which has been relentless. However, another Turkish attack fizzles out in the last third and heads are dropping.
