Tua Tracker: What NFL experts said about Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa vs. Cardinals

Tua Tagovailoa passed his first NFL test last week when he avoided critical mistakes in his first start with the Miami Dolphins.

His second start came across the country against Kyler Murray and the Arizona Cardinals. And the rookie from Alabama rose to the occasion.

Tua went 20 of 28 for 248 yards in the Dolphins' 34-31 win against the Cardinals on Sunday. He threw two touchdowns — one to Preston Williams and one to Mack Hollins — and did not turn the ball over. Tua also ran seven times for 35 yards, including a handful of late scrambles that had Dolphins fans excited for the future.

In Tagovailoa's first start, the pride of Hawaii went 12 of 22 for 93 yards and a touchdown, spending most of the game conserving a lead in a 28-17 win over Aaron Donald and the Los Angeles Rams.

How did he do? NFL experts and analysts reacted on social media on the rookie's performance.

Tua keeps up with Kyler Murray

The big story coming into the game was how the dueling quarterbacks would look against each other.

Outside of a strip sack on the first drive that the Dolphins returned for the first touchdown of the game, Murray was exceptional. The No. 1 overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft went 21 of 26 for 283 yards and three touchdowns. He also thrilled with his legs, finishing as Arizona's leading rusher with 106 yards on 11 carries with another TD.

Tua proved he was up to the task. His runs may not have been as jaw-dropping as Murray's, but they were enough to show he could move and make the necessary plays for the Dolphins to keep pace.

James Lofton, the analyst on CBS' broadcast, remarked Tagovailoa was "super accurate outside the pocket."

Experts were looking forward to seeing more Tua vs. Kyler matchups for years to come.

Some found the showdown downright superhuman.

Tua's biggest issue: Throwing the ball away?

Tagovailoa was solid at the start, leading a touchdown drive on Miami's second possession. But there was one baffling moment that had everyone scratching their head.

On second-and-10 from the Dolphins' 46-yard line, Tua rolled out to the sideline looking to throw the ball away. Problem was, he tossed the ball directly to defensive back Jalen Thompson. Thompson was ruled out of bounds when he caught the ball, so there was no interception, but it still raised eyebrows.

Experts in awe over Tua's game-tying drive

The series that had everyone talking Tua Time came after the Cardinals had taken their first lead of the game with 2:33 left in the third quarter.

Tagovailoa went 4 for 4 on that drive, hitting DeVante Parker twice for 31 yards, Jakeem Grant once for 6 yards and culminating with an 11-yard beauty to Mack Hollins for a touchdown.

Tua's running ability was on full display on this drive, as well. He scrambled for 6 yards on third-and-4 and later took off for 17 yards.

For some observers and organizations, words could not do tribute to the performance.

Others were much more jubilant.

And still others had changes of heart.
