According to The Sun, (print edition, page 55, Friday, September 2, 2016), Moussa Sissoko was not on the transfer list drawn up by outgoing Tottenham Hotspur head of recruitment Paul Mitchell.

It has been reported by the British tabloid that it was Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy who wanted to to sign the France international midfielder in the summer transfer window.

As it happened, Spurs recruited Sissoko from Championship club Newcastle United on transfer deadline day.

According to BBC Sport, the North London outfit had to pay as much as £30m in transfer fee in order to secure the services of the 27-year-old midfielder.

Sissoko had a disappointing 2015-16 Premier League campaign for Newcastle, but the midfielder was brilliant for France at the 2016 European Championship in the summer.

The former Toulouse midfielder is a very good player, but the problem is that he is very inconsistent.

It will be interesting to see if Sissoko plays regularly for the Tottenham first team.

Manager Mauricio Pochettino has quite an established starting lineup, and the Frenchman will find it tough to play regularly, at least initially.
