Hertfordshire Police has confirmed that former N-Dubz star Dappy has been charged with a Section 4 Public Order offence, possession of a bladed article and assault by beating.

The No Regrets singer, whose real name is Costadinos Contostavlos, has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at Hatfield Remand Court on Friday, May 12.

Dappy was held after armed police were called to an altercation between a man and woman on Wednesday afternoon in Roe Green Close, Hatfield; he was later arrested after reports from a neighbouring property said that up to 20 police officers descended on the street and were there for nearly an hour as an armed policeman demanded the door was opened.

A group of fellow students had allegedly intervened to help the woman.

‘I only saw the aftermath,’ he said. ‘There was an incident, a guy and a woman. Three or four students came to her aid.’

He continued: ‘At one point there were three or four armed police men standing at the door with one of them shouting instructions through the open door.

‘One went in with two backing him up and one on the driveway was crouching behind a car.’
