I feel this solution only hides the problem as I'm sure there are many who don't have this drainage issue with it on. By turning it off, you'll never figure out whats really causing the drainage.
I feel a smartphone should be able to do everything a smartphone does at all times which includes having the location on. I have blue tooth and location on all day and I get normal battery drain.
I know this is an old post, but just came across this while looking for a solution to battery drain as a result of idle processes on my s6. It's bad when it's using up more battery than the screen.
Anyhow, I have a lot of apps on my phone I don't use on a regular basis. The thing is, I don't feel I should have to factory reset my phone because I'll probably reload the same apps. Moreover, I don't change much on my phone. The only thing that does change are the app and OS updates.
I may load a new app from time to time for some, spare of the moment, but minor convenience.
I agree with this post because if one were to take a step back and try to recollect the last time the phone seemed to function normally, you may be able to figure out which app was last loaded. From there, u can check the app(s) permissions and change accordingly or, remove the app all together.
One way to determine which app is causing issues with battery drain is to remove the app entirely or, turn it's permissions off entirely. Start with apps that are not used on a regular basis; ones that have zero significance in everyday interactions with the phone.
By the end of the day or following day, it should be enough time to determine if it had any impact. Depending on the outcome, remove or change permissions for additional apps until there is a noticeable difference. Then reapply them back, one at a time to figure out the culperit.
Ultimately, this process will be a bit of a trial and error process.
When I read this post, I realized that some apps probably have more permissions than they should. So i started to turn off permissions and delete apps I use less frequently or don't use at all. Funny enough, things got better.
In short, the onus is on me to do some house cleaning every once in a while.
Cheers,
Bob
