Sony will release the first five Spider-Man movies in a specially created 4K Ultra HD steelbook set to coincide with the home release of Spider-Man: Homecoming in October.

Sam Raimi's Spider-Man trilogy and Marc Webb's The Amazing Spider-Man duology will be housed in the limited edition 12-disc set, which brings the five movies together for the first time in a single 4K set.

Spider-Man Legacy 4K

Earlier this summer, Sony re-released the five films in the Spider-Man Legacy Collection set in standard Blu-ray, as well as a Spider-Man Limited Edition Collection (collecting Spider-Man, Spider-Man 2, and Spider-Man 3) and The Amazing Spider-Man Limited Edition Collection (collecting The Amazing Spider-Man and The Amazing Spider-Man 2).

The Spider-Man Legacy 4K Collection will also include the Spider-Man 3: Editor's Cut, an alternate version of the movie supervised by Spider-Man 3's Academy Award winning editor Bob Murawski (2009, The Hurt Locker).

The cut was produced without involvement by Sam Raimi, the film's co-writer and director, who oversaw Spider-Man 2.1, an extended alternate cut of the trilogy's middle installment. While the Spider-Man 3: Editor's Cut doesn't differ greatly from the theatrical version, it does shave off a few minutes from the finalized product, implementing alternate takes of certain scenes as well as using additional footage of black-suit Spider-Man — footage that was previously only glimpsed in trailers.

The Spider-Man Legacy 4K Collection will include a handful of newly-produced featurettes found within both Spider-Man Legacy sets, as well as archival special features from the original home releases of the five movies.

The Spider-Man trilogy (2002—2007) was directed by Sam Raimi (The Evil Dead, Army of Darkness) and starred Tobey Maguire, Kirsten Dunst, James Franco, J.K. Simmons, Rosemary Harris, Cliff Robertson, Elizabeth Banks, Willem Dafoe, Alfred Molina, Topher Grace, Bryce Dallas Howard, Thomas Haden Church, Dylan Baker, and Bruce Campbell.

The trio of films made nearly $2.5 billion worldwide across its lifespan, before being rebooted in 2012 with The Amazing Spider-Man. Director Marc Webb's (500 Days of Summer, Gifted) The Amazing Spider-Man and The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2012—2014) starred Andrew Garfield as a younger, hipper web-swinger, and co-starred Emma Stone, Sally Field, Martin Sheen, Rhys Ifans, Denis Leary, Jamie Foxx, Dane DeHaan, Felicity Jones, and Paul Giamatti.

The pair of films weren't as well-received by fans or critics, itself leading to a new reboot produced by Disney-owned Marvel Studios and taking part in the shared Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The Spider-Man Legacy Collection 4K steelbook will be yours to own Tuesday, October 17. Sony will also release Spider-Man: Homecoming with a variety of retailer exclusives to choose from.
