If widespread reports are to be believed Kyle Walker could leave Tottenham Hotspur in the summer.

Premier League rivals Manchester City are keen to sign him, and probably Walker’s head has been turned around with all sorts of rumours going around.

Without going into further conjecture, it is fair to assume that Spurs would be willing to sell him if their asking price, which is quoted around £50m (The Sun), is met.

The big question is – Will Mauricio Pochettino sign a top class full-back to replace him or use Kieran Trippier as first choice right-back?

While Tripper has proved to be a very dependable player, Spurs should go out in the market to sign a quality full back if Walker leaves the club.

In that case, Pochettino should prioritise signing Bayer Leverkusen’s young full-back Benjamin Henrichs.

The 20-year-old produced two outstanding performances against Tottenham in the Champions League this season. In fact, in the entire UCL campaign, he was one of the stand out players for his side.

With 4.1 tackles and 3.4 interceptions (whoscored) in seven matches in the Champions League this season, he has proved that he belongs at the top level.

In Bundesliga, he has made 3.3 tackles and 3.5 interceptions (whoscored) in 26 games. Primarily a right-back, the young German defender is versatile enough to operate on the left flank as well.

Pochettino has shown great desire to work with young talents, and he must consider making a move for him. Henrichs is supremely talented but far from being the finished product.

However, he has tremendous potential, and could go on to become a top class player if he gets proper care and coaching.

He won’t come cheap, as Leverkusen could ask for a fee in the region of £16.9m (Sky Sports) for the defender. If Spurs could sell Walker for around £50m, they should not hesitate to go for the young German.

A player of this potential and caliber, plus the money left – Henrichs could be one hell of a signing for Spurs.
