About Equestrian

Hello! We are a welcoming and friendly sports community who accommodate all different levels of riders. We run weekly riding lessons at Naburn Grange Equestrian Centre catering for beginners, to those who have ridden all their life, in group lessons to suit your ability.

We also have 3 BUCS competition teams and a Development Team who train at Harrogate Riding Centre. Competitions start at Prelim level dressage and 70cm showjumping with the opportunity to qualify for regionals and nationals where competitions can reach advanced medium dressage and 1.20 showjumping. The teams also take part in Roses (a sports event against Lancaster University) which is a really exciting opportunity to show the rest of UoY what we do!

We run weekly socials varying from the classic Wednesday Salvos and club nights, trips to the trampoline park and mini golf. We also do some really exciting horse riding clinics/demonstrations and trips to Bramham Horse Trials and York races. Alongside this we also run a Tour usually at the end of the academic year, (last year our girls went to Ibiza!)

To see more of what we do follow our socials linked below :)

We can't wait to meet you so if you have any questions drop us an email! Also come say hi to us at Freshers Fair on October 1st 2022!

The small print for Club riding - Lessons are 45 minutes and cost £23. This must be paid in cash and put into a labelled envelope to give to the riding centre. There is a 48-hour cancellation policy, if you cancel your lesson after this time you will still have to pay. The maximum weight for any rider is 14 st/96 kg - this is for horse welfare reasons

Meeting Times

Naburn lessons (Club) are on a Wednesday afternoon (timing dependent on sign up numbers, but usually 13:30, 14:15 and 15:00), from Nisa on West Campus. All information about your lesson will be communicated via email.

Harrogate lessons (Team) vary according to what suits most people each week. Due to lesson length and travel time 3 to 4 hours is sometimes required to be put aside for a training session. Commitment to 80% of training is required. Information about teams is usually communicated via a facebook group.
