<strong>Grayshott</strong> <strong>Cricket</strong> <strong>Club</strong> - Selection Policy<br />
This is to create a clear understanding of the reasons behind<br />
player selection and some guidelines for players to be aware<br />
of.<br />
Who is Eligible?<br />
� Only members of <strong>Grayshott</strong> <strong>Cricket</strong> <strong>Club</strong> will be eligible<br />
for selection.<br />
� Only players who have paid their annual subscription by<br />
31 st May of the current season are eligible for selection.<br />
� Players with 2 or more weeks arrears of match fees’ will<br />
not be eligible for selection until the monies are paid.<br />
Who selects the teams?<br />
� Selection will take place on Saturday evening 1 week<br />
prior to the following weeks’ fixtures.<br />
� Selection will be made by the selection committee,<br />
consisting of 1 st XI Captain, 2 nd XI Captain, 3 rd XI Captain,<br />
4 th XI Captain and <strong>Club</strong> Captain. Their Vice-Captains can<br />
deputise in their place if required. 3 or more of the<br />
committee need to be in place to make selection<br />
possible.<br />
� 1 st choice of players going to the higher team.<br />
� Selection will be based on availability, form, ability,<br />
reliability and attitude.<br />
� When a player is picked in a different team from usual,<br />
they will be played as close to their normal positions as<br />
possible.<br />
� Youth team players will be selected upon<br />
recommendation from their youth coach.<br />
� Promoted and demoted players will be informed<br />
personally, with reasons, by the senior selecting captain.<br />
� Team captains will confirm team selection to all players<br />
by Monday evening
Who is available?<br />
� Players will only be available for selection if they have<br />
made their availability known to the team captain or club<br />
captain prior to the selection meeting. (Saturday evening)<br />
� Availability means you are able to get to the ground of the<br />
match you are selected for at least 15 minutes prior to<br />
the game. Some captains may require you at the ground<br />
up to 1 hour before the scheduled start time. If this is not<br />
possible, you are NOT available for selection.<br />
� Should a player become unavailable for any reason they<br />
should contact the captain or vice captain of that side<br />
immediately so that a replacement can be arranged.<br />
Contact details are in the fixture card and on the Website.<br />
� Any player who regularly (more than once per season)<br />
makes themselves unavailable, FOR ANY REASON,<br />
after Midnight of the Wednesday prior to the match, will<br />
only be available for a lower team the following week.<br />
After playing that match they will become fully available<br />
once more.<br />
� Some League rules may prevent this happening if it<br />
affects more than 2 players in any given week. The<br />
selection committee will make a decision should this<br />
occur.<br />
� Availability should be given to the club as soon as it is<br />
known. Ideally a full seasons’ availability if possible. Any<br />
changes to this can be made with the captain.<br />
� Players should expect to be asked to do a tea once a<br />
season as part of their commitment to the club.<br />
� If you have any questions regarding the selection policy<br />
or if you think you should be playing in a different side<br />
please contact your captain or the club captain to<br />
discuss.<br />
� This policy is a guideline and there may be rare<br />
occasions when it is not possible to follow these to the<br />
letter. It is the selection committee’s decision to pick<br />
teams and where possible the guidelines above will be<br />
followed.<br />
