THERE was a double regional final triumph for Worcester Rugby Club’s boys.

The Spartans under 16s beat Stourbridge 13-10 to lift the North Midlands Cup at Luctonians’ Mortimer Park.

The Vipers under 14s defeated Luctonians 10-3 at the same venue to bag their age group’s North Midlands Cup too.

Spartans started the game with the wind in their favour and took an early lead through a darting run from centre Dale May Mercer-Wilson who scored in the corner but had to come off injured afterwards.

James Mann converted and later added a penalty for a half-time lead of 10-0.

Stourbridge hit back with two tries but the missed conversions proved telling at the final whistle.

Worcester regained composure and Mann kept his nerve to convert a last-minute penalty to snatch the win.

Both teams then paid an emotional tribute to 14-year-old Stourbridge player Tom Mole who died last month after a short illness.

Louis Weston, Frazer Davidson, Darian Murray, Ollie Chidgey, Matt Keyte, Duncan Williams, Louis Misfud, Lewis Coleman, Tom Hartley, Laurie Murphy, Joe Amos, Dan Rickman, Ollie Hunter, Tom Peak, Jazz Whitfield, Niall Southwick, Jack Cope, Andrew Jew, Rhys Godfrey-Hunt, Toby Sobey and Austin Ruddock also made up the Spartans squad.

Vipers edged out determined hosts Luctonians after taking a 5-3 half-time lead through Alex Terry’s try with Jacob Morgan-Iqbal narrowly missing the conversion.

Lucs kicked a penalty in reply but a solo try from Leo Jamous in the second period sealed the win.

Worcester defended strongly typified by a last-minute tackle from captain Will Wrout.

Fin Dalby, Seb Dear, George Cunliffe, Isiah Martin, Ben Williams, Josh Culpin, Ollie Catherwood, Alfie Morse, Jack Hodgson, Robbie May, Cam Richardson, Sam Jeff, Kieron Pointon, George Boyle, Jack Morrison, Alex Jones, Will Dunaway and Tobey Jones also made up the squad.
