Coaches

Here at Wizard Oak Brook FC we are proud of our coaching staff and believe we offer more than just professional coaching, but a fun and exciting professional creative learning environment for teaching the beautiful game of soccer. Our coaches have a wide range of soccer experiences from all over the world; from international playing experience to specialist coaches that teach goalkeeping, strength training, and speed and agility. Here at the Wizard Oak Brook FC, we also offer a modern and elite program where our professional coaches have designed a specific topic-based training program to enhance our young players to master their balls skills and learn about the technical and tactical parts of the game.

All of our coaches hold US Soccer National Coaching Licenses and some obtain International Coaching Licenses.

Club Coach

Favorite Team: Ipswich Town, Portland Timbers

Favorite Player: Matt Holland

Favorite Soccer Memory: I have a few, both as a fan and as a player. Watching Ipswich win 4-2 at the old Wembley Stadium to get promoted to the Premier League, beating Coach Dan's Bolton in the semifinal on the way, was a special occasion. As was beating Inter Milan at home, featuring some great players such as the original Ronaldo, Christian Vieri, Clarence Seedorf, and Francesco Toldo to name a few.

Favorite Playing Position: Center Back

Favorite Playing Formation: 4-2-3-1 & 4-3-3

Favorite Food: Anything my Italian Grandad makes

About Me: I am originally from Colchester, England and have been coaching soccer for 16 years now. I have coaching experience within a professional academy setup and at the grassroots level in England. I have been coaching in the US since 2011 where I worked on the West Coast before moving to Chicago. I have been with Wizard FC from the start in 2013 and have seen the club grow into what it is today.

For me, soccer is about having fun, both for the player and the people watching. The most exciting players on a soccer field are the ones who are confident with the ball in any situation, and those who play with freedom and the bravery to be creative. As a coach, I try to help develop this with engaging sessions where players get plenty of contact time with the ball and have to problem solve in realistic soccer situations.

I currently hold the FA Level 2 and USSF National C License in coaching, FA Level 1 in Talent Identification and PFSA Level 2 in Performance Analysis while continually looking to add and improve on my knowledge of the game.

Favorite Team: Manchester United F.C.

Favorite Player: David Beckham

Favorite Soccer Memory: Attending the Manchester United vs Real Madrid game in Michigan. That was the very first time I have seen them live, we set the record for the biggest soccer crowd in the U.S. at 110,000 and I also got to meet Captain Fantastic Bryan Robson. Very nice man who took the time to talk to me even though his security tried to escort him away.

Favorite Playing Position: Right Midfield or Center Forward.

Favorite Playing Formation: 4-2-3-1 / 4-3-3

Favorite Foods: Chicken with mashed potatoes and Greek salad.

About Me: I was born and raised in Bulgaria. Soccer has always been a massive part of my life and I even remember vividly that my very first Christmas present was a soccer ball. We had a soccer field right next to our house and everyday without fail my brother and I would gather all the neighbours to go and play against whoever else showed up there. I continued to play through high school and University and now I enjoy indoor leagues whenever possible. I also trained badminton for many years and our team even won a bronze medal at the National Championship when I was about 11/12 years old, but remember missing many practices because I preferred to be on the soccer field. I attended Computer Technology High School and majored in Mechanical Engineering at the University but when I moved to the U.S. in 2011, I started attending soccer coaching courses as I decided it was time for me to follow my passion. Coaching is special to me because it gives me the opportunity to pass on my experiences when I was younger alongside all the knowledge I have gathered through the years and help players find the best version of themselves. I believe that soccer is game that is meant to be enjoyed even though it has lots of ups and downs. One of the things I have always tried to do as a coach is to create an environment and situations where players can be creative, competitive, problem-solving oriented but most importantly leave practices with a happy face asking for more.

I currently hold US Soccer National C License, United Soccer Coaches National Diploma alongside with their Goalkeeping Diploma 1 & 2 and a variety of technical diplomas and licenses

Favorite Player: Ronaldinho (Brazilian Legend)

Favorite Soccer Memory: Recently I have coached two Mexican Professional Goalkeepers-Guillermo Iriarte and Gorge Bava. Guillermo played professionally in the Mexican 2nd Division and Gorge played for the Chicago Fire in the MLS. It was a pleasure coaching such high-level players. I learned so much, which I enjoy passing on to the young players that I coach today at Wizard FC.

Favorite Playing Position: Goalkeeper

Favorite Playing Formation: 4-3-3

Favorite Food: Chinese

About Me: I have always desired to coach soccer and specialize in goalkeeper training. I previously played semi-professionally in the leagues in Mexico. Soccer has been more than just a sport to me. I have been coaching for 6 years with a specialization in goalkeeping. I am very proud to lead Wizard FC's Goalkeeper Program.

I look forward to seeing all of you out on the pitch!
