CIRENCESTER'S 3rd XI were the second ladies' team at the club to secure promotion before the season’s end.

A 4-3 win against Lansdown guaranteed a first or second-placed finish, depending on other results. Lansdown took an early lead as Cirencester started slowly, but some great play in midfield created a instant reply from Tilly Brown.

The pattern continued with a further Cirencester goal, only for the ladies to be pegged back by an agonising short-corner equaliser.

In the second half, Jenny Jones continued the scoring but Lansdown equalised with nine minutes to go. One thing Cirencester haven't been short of this season is fighting spirit, and with three minutes left Jones claimed her hat-trick to secure the win with a crucial three points.

Cirencester ladies' 2nd XI topped off their own promotion season with a 5-1 win against Lansdown II to reaffirm their pole position in the league.

The ladies' fourths finished their first season with a 2-0 win against Painswick, ready for introduction to the league next season.

The clean sweep, however, wasn’t meant to be. After a flying season, Cirencester's 1st ladies' XI went down 3-0 down against top-of-the-league Lansdown.

Cirencester struggled to gain momentum, with weak passing being swept up by the opposition. Despite some improvement, Cirencester were unable to create opportunities despite industrious performances from Bel Blanch and Alex Neilson.

Cirencester Men’s 1st XI ended a great season with a disappointing draw away at Ross-on-Wye.

Despite taking an early lead through Charlie Partridge, Ross rallied and were 2-1 up at half-time. A second from Partridge and then further goals from Matt van der Torren and Rob Carmichael had Cirencester comfortably in front, but lapses allowed Ross back into the game and it ended 4-4.

The 2nd XI finished the season with a 3-1 win against Llanelli & Caerphilly. Two goals from Olly Latter and a superb finish from Rob Pengilley secured all three points, although the side will be relegated having finished ninth in the league with four sides being demoted.

The 3rd XI posted a loss as Lansdown B started quickly and built a 3-0 half-time lead. Goals from Robbie Webster and Dave Hall closed the deficit but two more from the visiting Lansdown side saw them run out 5-2 winners.

Skipper Gray “Bisto” Vinnicombe was delighted to avoid relegation, saying: “Last season we just stayed up, but this season we have developed well with some of our younger players, Ollie Heneghan, Robbie Webster, Owen Harrison and my son Tom, really showing potential for the next few seasons.

"It’s the highest we have finished in more than a decade.”

The fourth team also lost to Lansdown with Pat Humphrey scoring a terrific goal to add to the earlier strike from Paul Craven but the side lost 3-2.

With the ladies having just one game remaining it will take a remarkable effort from Kath Fry (26) and Jess Weston (24) to overtake the leader Charlie Partridge (30) and fellow striker Rob Carmichael (29) for the Golden Stick award as the season's top scorer.
