This Saturday we look forward to getting back into league action as we start the final block of fixtures to close out the season. This block consists of five tough games, which kicks off with long term rivals Hertford RFC coming to Goddington Lane on Saturday.

This is the return of the fixture in early November when we managed to take 5 points in difficult conditions winning 3-24. We didn’t have it all our own way that day and, finally taking the 4-try bonus point with the final play of the game. Hertford, traditionally very strong at this level, will be buoyed by their 29-5 victory over Tring last weekend and we look forward to another tough physical game on Saturday.

For us we enjoyed a week off last week. With the inevitable wear and tear on the players this deep into the season, it was good to rest the bodies after a difficult January and prepare for the final run it. We approach this final block in a strong position at the top, which is testament to the players efforts since the start of the season, but as the last block of games proved, there are no easy games in this league, they’re all good sides and when you’re at the top they all want to take that scalp. This weekend will be no different and we look forward to the challenge.

The senior squad did have one fixture last week, with the Extra XV taking on Hastings & Bexhill in Counties 2 Kent, coming away with an excellent 7-36 victory on the road. This put us 7th in table as we look forward to a tough game away at 3rd place Dover this week.
