Members of Watford Fencing Club aim to show they are as sharp as ever by launching a series of beginner’s courses this spring, as the club approaches its 60th anniversary.

Founded in 1957, Watford Fencing Club is launching an eight-week “Sportivate” funded fencing course for beginners in conjunction with Three Rivers District Council.

Sportivate is a £56 million Lottery funded London 2012 legacy project that gives more young people aged 16 to 25 the chance to discover a sport that they may grow to love.

James Dicker the Chairman of Watford Fencing Club and Hertfordshire Fencing Association, said: “We are extremely grateful to Three Rivers District Council, for awarding Sportivate funding. We hope it will encourage the next generation of fencers to take up the sport.”

The course begins on Wednesday, March 18. For details visit www.watfordfencingclub.co.uk.
