THERE was double cause for celebration at Vida Badminton Club – and the future could be bright for several of their young players.

Their year nine and year 11 A teams both secured title victories on the fourth and final day of the Manchester Junior Badminton League.

The year 11 side – the first team Vida had entered at this age group – lost just one match over the course of the tournament while the year nines retained the title they won last year.

A 5-0 victory over St Mary’s got the year nine A team of Paco Li, Saran Dhulipala, Ishaan Adavi, Connor Smith and Satwik Mallela off to a strong start in Rochdale before a close 3-2 defeat to Forrest, but they had done enough over the season to secure top spot.

Emerson Reddy, Sep Bazli, Jack Ashcroft-Carter, Harry Nesbitt and Adarsh Kumar were on court for the year 11s as they edged out JCBO 3-2 before making sure of the title with a 4-1 win over Whitworth.

The year nine B team were also in action, losing their first match before bouncing back to end with a 4-1 victory.

Meanwhile, entries for the Warrington District Badminton League’s annual junior tournament are now open.
